JHS Wrestling Team Dominates at World Wrestling Camps

The Johnston High School wrestling team was represented well this past week in the Wisconsin Dells at the 2017 World Wrestling Camps  Teams from Wisconsin, Illinois, and Iowa competed over the the course of three days in a total of 11 dual meets.

Johnston compiled a 10-1 record, making them the team champions for the 2017 event.  Johnston was represented by 23 wrestlers ranging from 8th-12th grade. Coaches Aaron Tecklenburg and Steve Price accompanied the student athletes on the trip.  Coach Aaron Tecklenburg shared, “Our kids once again represented JCSD with class and competitive spirit. It was a pleasure watching these young men learn from world class and Olympic champion wrestling instructors, as well as compete against some outstanding wrestlers from all over the midwest.  We are proud of their efforts!”

Coach’s note: Barrington, IL lost to Webster City, IA and Downers Grove South, IL.  Webster City took second place overall by defeating Barrington and Downers Grove South.  JHS had the head to head tie breaker over Webster City, who also finished 10-1.
