Johnston Safety Town

  • WHAT: Safety Town introduces children to a wide variety of personal and public safety topics, including:  vehicle safety belts, bus riding, bicycle and pedestrian rules of the road, playground and water safety, and more.  At Safety Town, the serious subject of safety is combined with arts and craft activities to reinforce learning, making the experience lots of fun!  Community safety professionals, including police officers and firefighters, visit Safety Town to present safety lessons.
  • WHO:  For Boys and Girls going into Kindergarten and First Grade in the Fall
  • WHERE: Johnston District Office Gym (6510 NW 62nd Ave in Johnston), Enter and exit through Door #7 on the east side.
  • WHEN: Mon/Tues June TBD OR Wed/Thurs June TBD, 9:00am-11:00am (Drop off starts at 8:50am, Pick up is at 11:00am)
  • COST: $40 per person (includes a t-shirt)
  • WHAT to WEAR: Please wear active clothing.
  • INSTRUCTOR:  Safety Town’s lead director, Rachel Osbahr, is a certified teacher.  Volunteers (ages 14+) are needed and asked to sign up prior to the event.
