Helping Youth Find a Path to Independence
Youth Homes of MidAmerica (Y-Home) is a privately run facility located within Johnston Community School District boundaries. This facility, Ross Campus, is a treatment facility for 45
adjudicated teenage boys. The Ross Campus offers nine programs that fall under either residential treatment, transitional and independent living, or counseling programs, all with the end goal of providing troubled youth and their families a path to independence. A few students integrate into the JCSD public school buildings each year.
Johnston Schools run a small school program on the Ross Campus, housing five classrooms (both general and special education) and a majority of Ross Campus residents attend school there. Youth Home educators are fully certified and hold their teaching license under the Iowa Board of Educational Examiners.
