Our Process for Selecting A Superintendent
Note: The following update has been provided by the Johnston Board of Education regarding the JCSD Superintendent selection process.
During this 2018-19 academic year, Laura Kacer has graciously stepped forward and is serving as Interim Superintendent of the Johnston Community School District, in addition to her duties as Director of Human Resources.
The school board is currently evaluating the various options available in regards to the selection of a permanent superintendent. This work will continue throughout the remainder of 2018. In January, the selection process will begin in earnest, with our goal to have a permanent superintendent identified and hired no later than March 15, 2019.
We welcome and encourage our community to be a part of this selection process. A total of five staff and community forums, plus an additional forum specifically for students, have been scheduled in early December. All forums will be moderated by Heartland AEA staff.
Each forum is geared toward a specific audience; however, all are open to whomever can come on a given date/time.
- Monday, Dec. 3 @ Summit Cafetorium; 4:15 p.m. for staff and 5:30 p.m. for administrators
- Tuesday, Dec. 4 @ JHS; 7 a.m. for students ONLY
- Wednesday, Dec. 5 @ Wallace Auditorium; 5:30 p.m. for staff and 7 p.m. for parents/community
- Monday, Dec. 10 @ Administrative Resource Center board room; 5 p.m. for parents/community
Can’t make the forums? Submit your feedback here
We get it – schedules get busy and there’s not always time to make it to another meeting. For your convenience, there is an online form to submit your feedback to the four questions that will be asked during the forums. The forms will be sent directly to the JCSD Board of Education for their review and consideration.
