Schedule your SENIOR MEETING with your Counselor early in the school year to discuss options, next steps, they CAN help. Schedule your meeting HERE.
Thursday, October 26th, 2023 – Senior Class Meeting in the JHS Auditorium – 9:15 – 9:45 a.m. You will receive information from our Herff Jones rep regarding ordering your cap/gown, graduation invites, thank you cards, t-shirt, bling tassels and many other products.
Tuesday, October 31st, 2023 – Place graduation product orders, with Herff Jones Reps 7:30 a.m. -3:30 p.m. Cafeteria.
October 31st @3:00 p.m. – Diploma name and pronunciation due. This google link was given to seniors in Pathways on Day 1 and sent in emails.

Date TBD – Herff Jones Product Pick up – Pick up your Herff Jones order; invitations, thank you notes, bling tassels, sweatshirts, picture frames, etc. (this does not include cap and gowns), in the Cafeteria from 7:15 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. (not cap and gown)
Thursday, April 18th – Senior Class Meeting -JHS Auditorium 9:15 -9:45. Learn who your senior speaker and junior attendants will be, complete contact information for receiving proof of picture taken at graduation. Receive valuable information about senior events for the remainder of the year.
Saturday, April 27th, 2024 – Prom and After Prom – Located at the Community Choice CU Events Center. Tickets are on sale in the Accounting Office. Watch emails and announcements for more information.
Tuesday, May 21st, 2024 – Senior Recognition Night – Johnston High School Auditorium, 6:00 – 7:00 PM.
Thursday, May 23rd, 2024 – Last day of Senior classes, turn in iPads, pay fees.
Friday, May 24th – 8:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. – Rehearsal for Graduation – Attendance is required! ENTER DOOR #3 and go to the main gym! All seniors are to be in the large gym at 8:30 AM. Caps and gowns will be handed out during rehearsal. All fines must be paid before you receive your cap and gown.
Tuesday, May 28th – 6:15 p.m. – Graduation Line up – ALL SENIORS are to meet at the Bell Center staging area at the north side of the Drake Knapp Center and be in their chair NO LATER THAN 6:15 PM. Commencement is a formal celebration of our graduates’ accomplishments. We ask all graduates to please dress appropriately for the occasion. No parents or visitors will be allowed into the Bell Center area before or after the ceremony. All seniors will go back to the Bell Center immediately following the Commencement ceremony to pick up their signed diploma. Parents will need to take photos of their senior in their cap and gown before arriving at the Knapp Center and are not allowed in the Bell Center.
Tuesday, May 28th – 7:00 p.m. – Graduation Commencement – The Drake Knapp Center, 2525 Forest Ave, Des Moines, is an air-conditioned facility. There are 975 parking spaces within a block from the facility. Handicap parking is available on the east side of the Knapp Center in Lots 2 & 3. Handicap seating is available on the west end on the top level or on the lower level behind the band. No tickets are needed and there is not a limit to the number of family/friends that can attend.

Please use this document for senior photo specific requirements. All photos must be submitted to JHSeniors@johnston.k12.ia.us by 11:59 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 31 for inclusion in the yearbook. If a senior photos is not submitted, a student’s school photo taken in August will be used.
