Shipp Named Distinguished Newspaper Adviser

The Dow Jones Fund named Johnston High School teacher Leslie Shipp a Distinguished Newspaper Adviser at the National Journalism Convention in Indianapolis, Nov. 12. Six other advisers were also recognized as well as the National Newspaper Adviser of the Year.

Shipp advises the nationally-recognized student newspaper “Black and White” print and online editions. Both have been nominated for Pacemakers, the highest high school journalism award, in the past year. As part of the honor, Dow Jones will award a $500 scholarship to a Johnston journalism student later this school year.
