The New JCSD Digital Backpack
The Johnston Community School District has released a new (and improved) version of e-flyers – the Digital Backpack.
The goal of the Digital Backpack is to share community events with Johnston families in a convenient and eco-friendly way. This online feature – available on the JCSD website – cuts back on paper flyers.
How it Works
Events are posted under seven categories: Arts & Entertainment, Booster Club & PTO Events, Camps & Scouts, District Events, Educational Opportunities, Sports & Activities, and Volunteering & Fundraising – in addition to newly added and expiring soon events.
In the future, there will be an option to subscribe to receive events and flyers via email. The Digital Backpack will also continue to be shared in the biweekly E-Connection newsletter.
Who Can Submit an Event/Flyer
School-sponsored organizations, school-affiliated organizations, school-supported organizations, non-profit community organizations, and study abroad opportunities/curricular enhancements by for-profit organizations CAN submit flyers via the Digital Backpack. All other for-profit organizations, religious organizations, and political parties CAN NOT submit flyers. For more specifics, view Policy 903.5 Distribution of Materials on the district website.
How to Submit an Event/Flyer
Fill out the online form available on the Digital Backpack. Be sure to fill out all required fields and include a disclaimer on any attachment. Once a form is submitted, the JCSD communications department will be notified and will either approve the flyer or request additional information.
