Johnston Students Shine at National History Day

Thirteen Johnston students competed in the National History Day competition at the University of Maryland, June 14-16, in College Park, MD. Sophomores Angela Cai, Parul Srivastava, Obsee Abbajabal, Marianne Aldrich, and Lauren Fergus received the Native American History Award for their website.  In addition, sophomore Allie Tubbs placed fifth for her performance and freshman Akshaya Kumar placed ninth for her documentary.  Johnston was also represented by juniors Meredith McDonald, Gwynna Miner, Natalie Voss, and Isla Chowanec with an exhibit, and freshmen Jackie Liang and Makenna Gregurek with a documentary.  Johnston’s History Day teachers are Sue Cline, Colleen Ites, and Kathy Paul. Congratulations to these students!
