District Receives $1 Million from Mid-American Energy

Officials from the Johnston Community School District received a check for more than $1 million from Mid-American Energy, based on rebates from installing energy-efficient products

in Johnston school buildings. It is part of the Mid-American Energy efficient rebate program. The check amount was derived from rebates earned during the FY17 period (July 1, 2016 through June 30, 2017). The money goes back to building-specific budget plans.

Notable school-specific energy savings:
• Johnston High School: $843,642 (Building as a whole)
• Horizon Elementary: $99,454 (Replacement of all interior lights with LED lights)
• Beaver Creek Elementary: $93,783 (Replacement of all interior lights with LED lights)
• Multiple district buildings and parking lots have had LED lights installed inside and on light poles throughout the year.
