Election Results Yield Three New Board Members

Three newcomers will join the Johnston Board of Education, effective September 25, 2017.

District residents – and parents – Justin Allen, Steven Hopper, and Jeanie Kerber were elected in the September 12 special elections. They will replace outgoing board members Marci Cordaro, Mark Toebben, and Brad Ortmeier. View all candidate profiles/bios here.

Official results from the Polk County Election Office reported the following breakdown of votes:

Justin Allen: 772 (26.53%)

Jeanie Kerber: 731 (25.12%)

Steven Hopper: 549 (18.87%)

Brad Ortmeier: 535 (18.38%)

Soneeta Mangra-Dutcher: 304 (10.45%)

Write-in: 19 (0.65%)

There will be a short reception at 5:30 p.m. to welcome new board members and congratulate outgoing board members during the Monday, September 25 board meeting at the district’s Administrative Resource Center, 5608 Merle Hay Road, Johnston.  It is scheduled to take place before the board meeting begins. The public is invited to attend.
