Suzie Pearson, Wallace Elementary Principal, Named 2018 Citizen of the Year

Suzie Pearson Citizen of the Year accepting her awardSuzie Pearson, Johnston Community School District Principal at Wallace Elementary was recognized at the Johnston Chamber of Commerce’s Annual Banquet on Thursday, February 28 as the 2018 Citizen of the Year.

She and her husband, JP, have two grown children, Tori and Cameron. They have resided in Johnston for over 15 years.

Suzie first came to Johnston, 17 years ago, to Wallace Elementary as a counselor. She then became the dean and then the principal. She is know for her driving commitment to children, to educators and to families. Her passion has positively affected the lives of thousands of people in the community.  Although she remains modest and humble, her contributions have not gone unnoticed.

Her accomplishments are seen in these lives of our children and families. If you asked her, that is what she would be most proud of. But, that is just part of her story. Suzie works tirelessly beyond her job description. Most recent, she was instrumental in the planning, construction and completion of the new Wallace Elementary building. She gets involved in committees, activities, groups, sessions and other things all with the goal to do her job better for the benefit of her students, educators and families.

Beyond the school boundaries, you’ll see Suzie at community events, volunteering with her husband. As well, she and JP have been emergency foster care parents, fostering four children at three different times through the years. And if you know Suzie, she supports those around her with an enthusiastic, “Absolutely!” when called upon.
