Photo of the marching band in the homecoming paradeThe 2019 Johnston Homecoming parade is scheduled for Thursday, September 19th at 6:00 p.m. If you have any questions or comments about this year’s event you may contact jhsparade@gmail.com. Entry deadline is September 5 for public office candidates and businesses.

Route

The parade will begin on Pioneer Parkway at the intersections with Greendale Road. The parade will travel west in the westbound lanes of Pioneer Parkway to NW 62nd Avenue. The parade will then turn east onto NW 62nd Avenue and proceed to the intersection with Meadow Crest Drive (the west entrance to Johnston Middle School, near the tennis courts). Parade entries will turn into the parking lot and end behind the high school. Spectators will be allowed to view the parade anywhere along Pioneer Parkway and along NW 62nd Avenue between Pioneer Parkway and Meadow Crest Drive. No parking will be allowed on Pioneer Parkway, NW 62nd Avenue, or Greendale Road. Access to Greendale Road from Pioneer Parkway and access from Winwood to Greendale will be limited during the parade and an alternative route is suggested. From start to finish, we anticipate the parade will last approximately 1-2 hours.

Set Up

Floats will begin to line up at approximately 4:00 on Greendale and the three cul-de-sacs coming off of Greendale. Floats will be lined up on the west side of Greendale and the cul-de-sacs until about 6pm. The parade committee will make sure that no trucks or vehicles will be blocking driveways. This is all to ensure of everyone’s safety.
