Phone Scam Targets Johnston-area Businesses, Residents

The Johnston Community School District would like to warn parents, community members, and business owners of a scam involving people impersonating someone from Johnston High School.

Scammers are calling people and businesses in the city asking them to purchase rally flags for display at home games. The company is called Sports Media Marketing, out of Ft. Worth, Texas.

While Sports Media Marketing is a legitimate company, they do not have permission to call on behalf of the school district, or use the district’s name or likeness for any promotional activities. This is not a district-approved fundraiser or vendor.
