Preschoolers now have their own library
The Johnston Early Learning Academy now has its own library, thanks to a $7,900 grant from the Johnston Community School Foundation. The grant helped to stock the new library with about 1,000 books, and provide each preschooler with a book bag.
A ribbon cutting was held Friday to officially present the check to JELA and celebrate the new library during the Week of the Young Child and School Library Month. It was also students’ first opportunity to check out books.
Research supports early literacy opportunities and reading as a family to increase student growth and achievement.
