New Announcements:

Volunteers are needed again this summer for Safety Town! Safety Town is a program sponsored by Johnston Community Education that teaches safety awareness to children that will be entering kindergarten next year. If you are interested in volunteering or would like more information about Safety Town, please stop by the front office and pick up a volunteer form!

 

ALL 8th and 9th grade volleyball players: Pre-season informational meeting this Thursday at 7:10AM in the large gym with Coach Brooks and Coach Beer.  Please make ride arrangements so you are able to attend.

iPad return will be starting today during PE classes and will continue through Thursday. If you do not have PE please  turn in your iPads during your study hall, choir, band or health. Please see the attached document for more information regarding iPad turn in.

Congratulations to the JHS Women’s Golf Team on qualifying for the 2019 State Golf Tournament.  State will be on May 28 and May 29 at Coldwater Golf Course in Ames, IA. Representing the Dragons will be Taylor Sedivec, Kelsey Rubin, Jaedyn Cale, Grace Chickering, Madison Dunn, and Cara Kempadoo.  This is the second year in a row that the Dragons will be at state and comes off of a season where they were back-to-back Conference Champs and Dual Meet Champs. #rolldrags @JCSD_Golf

SUMMER SCHOOL PERMITS: We will be having a meeting on Thursday, May 30 at 3:15 PM in the Cafeteria to issue school permits to students who meet the following criteria:

·        Student entering 9th Grade for the 2019/2020 School Year (and 9th graders that have met the criteria)

·        Student must have had their Learner’s Permit for at least six months

·        Student has successfully completed Driver’s Education (or will complete during the summer)

THE STUDENT AND A PARENT MUST ATTEND THE MEETING! Please bring your completed Driver’s Education Certificate and student permit to the meeting. Students will need a parking tag to park on school grounds. Parking Passes for the 2019/2020 school year will be available for $20.00 at the meeting. Please make sure you have your license plate number with you at the time of purchase.

Attention Students!

Amanda the Panda is offering a “nature of grief” day camp on June 20th from 8:30 am-4 pm as well as a “fun day” at the Altoona Aquatics Park on June 30th.  Please see the attached flyers for more information! June Fun Day

2019/20 Sophomores, Juniors, and Seniors – SAVE THE DATE!

Dragon Day will be Wednesday, August 14th from 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., please make plans to attend, this is also picture day.  You will be able to walk your schedule, pay school fees, pick up approved parking tags, get your school ID, and so much more.

Attention 9th grade students!

Parking tags for incoming sophomores will be sold at JMS only on Thursday, May 30th from 11AM to 1:15PM in the cafeteria.

If you are unable to purchase your parking pass on May 30th at JMS, you are still able to purchase the parking tag at the accounting office at JHS until June 7th. Cash or check are accepted methods of payment for parking tags. Please let me know if you have any questions!

JMS yearbooks are on their way from the publisher!!! Reserve YOUR copy, TODAY!  YBs cost $28 and can be purchased with cash or check in the office or with a credit card on REV TRAK. Books are on sale from now until the reserve supply is gone. Student writers and photographers did outstanding work this year–you won’t want to miss it! Look for sneak previews in the days ahead.
