Announcements for: Wednesday, November 10, A Day

Today (Wednesday,  November 10) is an A day.

Teachers will update weekly assignments every Friday so students know what needs to be done the following week. In the weekly updates, teachers will communicate any due dates for student work.

If you haven’t already, book your conferences TODAY. JMS Parent Teacher Conferences are tomorrow, November 11, 1:30 PM – 5:00 PM and 5:30 PM – 8:00 PM.

Click HERE to JMS Book Conferences

  • Before you begin the process, you will want all the teachers’ names that you wish to conference with.
  • Within 15 minutes of registering, you should receive an email from PTC Fast. This will give you access for setting one or more conference times, for one or more students.
  • When the process is complete, you will receive a confirmation email with the date and times of your conferences. You can change your date and time with the entry code contained in the email. KEEP THIS EMAIL. The Zoom link for conferences will contained within this email.
  • If a timeslot is not available, please email the teacher to coordinate a different date. When you sign into your conference, please use your STUDENT’S NAME to register in Zoom. This will help teachers identify you when your conference time starts.

We ask that parents book only one eight (8) minute conference time per teacher to allow all parents the opportunity to meet with their student’s teachers. If you need more time to visit with teachers, please email staff to set an alternate time to meet.

If this date does not work for you, our teachers have an additional 3.5 hours to hold Zoom or in-person conferences before Tuesday, November 23. Please reach out directly to your teacher to schedule an alternate date and time.

9-12 grade boys interested in playing high school tennis in the Spring, please attend the information meeting Tuesday November 16 at 7:00 pm in the Johnston Middle School auditorium.  Parents should also attend.

Tennis will start the week of Spring Break. If you are in town, you are expected to attend.

There are several things that need to be done now:

1. Each player must ensure he is registered to play tennis and has a current physical.  Use the following link to register for tennis:

2. Your physical must be uploaded to this site before you are eligible to practice/participate.

3. Uniforms need to be ordered now to ensure delivery in time for the season.  The purple polo and black shorts with pockets are required.  You’ll need to order the polo for this year.  If you already have black shorts with pockets, those are fine.  Otherwise, you can order the shorts that are in the shop.  The other items in the shop are optional.  Pass this information along to family and friends who want to support the tennis team.

********The Johnston boys tennis shop is open until November 23. Order your gear to show your support for the program. You can use the following link to order your merch.

This stuff makes great Christmas gifts!

(Disclaimer: Christmas delivery cannot be guaranteed because of possible COVID supply chain issues)

Spring will be here before you know it!  Get out and play while the weather is still reasonable, then move indoors to Genesis or Lifetime if your schedule allows.

Please remind your students to be checking our Lost & Found in our Commons. All items will be gathered and donated at the end of the month!

9th grade students who wish to obtain a school driver’s permit can follow the following link:

This link will guide them to a Google Site. Students will need to log in with their jdragonmail credentials in order to watch a video and complete a quiz. The video contains the information that was presented at permit meetings in the past and will now take the place of those meetings. One parent will need to watch the video and note that completion on the quiz. As usual, the only students eligible are 9th graders who have completed driver’s education and have had their learner’s permit for at least six months. After the quiz has been completed, students can pick up their signed Department of Transportation form in the JMS Front Office. Students will need a parking tag to park on school grounds during the school year. Parking tags are available for $20 when students pick up their DOT form. Please make sure you have your license plate number with you at the time of purchase.
