The JMS PARENT TEACHER VIRTUAL CONFERENCE LINK IS NOW OPEN! You can book conferences with your student’s teachers on November 12 at the following link: https://www.schoolbookings.net/code?code=eg6wg

On Friday, November 6th from 9:15-9:45 AM we will be having our first virtual career information session via Zoom. Students who are in person will be watching this with their Pride class, and students who are online will have the opportunity to Zoom in from home. Our first session will be focused on Veterinary Science and we will be learning from two local veterinarians. If you are unable to log in at this time, the session will be recorded and posted on the JMS counseling website following the presentation.

The link has been emailed out to all of our online students and families through Infinite Campus, but if you need it again please send Kayla Lunn at JMS an email and she will send it to you!

Hey JMS- If you are interested in being a part of a GSA (Gay-Straight Alliance) group at Johnston Middle School, or just want to learn more, please let one of our counselors know, either via email or in person. We are hoping to get this started next week. Online students are welcome to join this, we can send you a Zoom link to attend once the meeting time is set!

JMS Lunch Time Game Group returns TODAY!  For those of you interested in making new connections in the building, please grab your lunch and come join us for game group in the counseling office today.  Choice of game still to be determined, if you have a suggestion please let Mrs. Moomaw or Mrs. Lunn know.

Any 9th grader who plans on playing 9th grade baseball this summer….will need to attend the 9th grade baseball sign-up meeting on Monday night November 9th at 6:15 PM.  The sign-up meeting will take place in the middle school weight room.  Please bring a mask and your ipad.  Thank you.  Coach Barta

 


We’ve received good news that the USDA free meal program will be extended for the rest of the school year! This means all students can eat free!

9th grade students: Are you interested in participating in Mock Trial at the High School level? Informational videos for grades 9-12 Mock Trial can be found at the following links:

Students- don’t forget to check the JMS site for your Weekly Updates and Assignments in all your classes!  This will help you keep up with your course work in all classes, especially if you are ever absent or quarantined.

Johnston High School and Dallas Center Grimes grades 9-12 will be able to attend High School Bowling tryouts at Game Day Lanes (formerly Merle Hay Lanes).  Tryouts are for both boys and girls on Thursday, November 5th and Friday, November 6th from 3:30 – 5:00 pm.  Students must have a completed physical, registration and concussion certificate to participate.

Attention Johnston Women’s Golfers.  Please fill out the following form to communicate your intentions for JHS Spring Women’s Golf 2021 (students must fill out the form).  JHS Spring Women’s Golf is for current 9th-12th graders.  However, if numbers allow, current 7th- 8th graders may be allowed to join the team for practices and to gain experience.  If you have any questions, please reach out to Coach Hattel at chattel@johnston.k12.ia.us.


 

Attention all military families!!  In preparation for our Veteran’s Day celebration this year we would like to celebrate any and all of our families that have dedicated themselves to serving our country or supported a family member who has.  We are looking to put together a slideshow of students and their loved ones who have served or are currently serving in the armed forces.  If you would be willing to be included in our celebration slide show, please email a copy of any photos you’re willing to share to raine.mollenbeck@johnston.k12.ia.us or abbey.moomaw@johnston.k12.ia.us
