Attention female students! The free and fun Iowa State University Sonya Kovalevsky Girls Mathematics Day will be held:

Saturday, March 30

9:00 am – 2:00 pm

Carver Hall

Iowa State University Campus

Ames, Iowa

The theme for the day will be: Some Mathematical Aspects of Paper Folding and Origami.

Events will include a keynote speaker, hands-on activities, lunch (provided), and small group mentoring sessions with female mathematicians.

Friends of Johnston ELP will be hosting National Speaker Lisa Van Gemert on Tuesday, April 9th, at 7pm at Johnston Middle School Auditorium.  You won’t want to miss this unique opportunity to hear from the “GIFTED GURU”, Lisa Van Gemert. Lisa is a national speaker and author of the book, Perfectionism: Practical Strategies for Managing Never Good Enough. She will be discussing boundaries for the gifted to include peer boundaries, adult interaction and even electronics. As always, this is a free event and open to the public.  Please join us- it will be an evening to remember!
