Any 8th grade and 9th grade boy interested in Cross Country next year, there will be a meeting in Coach Harken’s room (Room 515 upstairs) on Tuesday, May 21st at 3:15pm. If you are unable to make it, please email Coach Jaschen at matt.jaschen@johnston.k12.ia.us

SUMMER SCHOOL PERMITS: We will be having a meeting on Thursday, May 30 at 3:15 PM in the Cafeteria to issue school permits to students who meet the following criteria:

  •        Student entering 9th Grade for the 2019/2020 School Year (and 9th graders that have met the criteria)
  •        Student must have had their Learner’s Permit for at least six months
  •        Student has successfully completed Driver’s Education (or will complete during the summer)

THE STUDENT AND A PARENT MUST ATTEND THE MEETING! Please bring your completed Driver’s Education Certificate and student permit to the meeting. Students will need a parking tag to park on school grounds. Parking Passes for the 2019/2020 school year will be available for $20.00 at the meeting. Please make sure you have your license plate number with you at the time of purchase.

 

 

ATTENTION PARENTS of Freshmen through Seniors interested in playing High School Football this fall, the Johnston Football Parent’s Club will be hosting a brief but informative meeting Monday, May 20th from 6pm-6:30pm in the JHS Commons/Cafeteria area to update parents on “everything your kids haven’t told you (and don’t know) about the upcoming 2019 football season & more”:

  • Team community service projects
  • Central team football camp
  • Fit To Hit camp
  • Practice/Season schedules
  • Committees to volunteer on
  • Football Player’s Apparel & Gear
  • Fundraising/Sponsorship Opportunities

Amanda the Panda is offering a “nature of grief” day camp on June 20th from 8:30 am-4 pm as well as a “fun day” at the Altoona Aquatics Park on June 30th.  Please see the attached flyers for more information! June Fun Day

2019/20 Sophomores, Juniors, and Seniors – SAVE THE DATE!

Dragon Day will be Wednesday, August 14th from 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., please make plans to attend, this is also picture day.  You will be able to walk your schedule, pay school fees, pick up approved parking tags, get your school ID, and so much more.

It’s the COLOR RUN…here in Johnston at Summit Middle School on Saturday June 1st at 9:30am!!!! Color Run Sources for Strength S4C

Come join S4C (Students for Change-JHS) and Sources of Strength (JMS) for their first ever COLOR RUN

All staff and students are welcome to participate.  Running or walking YOU can help to spread hope, help, and strength to every corner of our community.

Attention 9th grade students!

The accounting office and Mrs. Stromer from JHS will be at the JMS cafeteria on May 28th and May 30th to sell parking tags from 11AM-1:15PM. Mrs. Stromer will also be sending 9th grade students an email tomorrow with other dates she will be selling parking tags for next year.

 

 

JMS yearbooks are on their way from the publisher!!! Reserve YOUR copy, TODAY!  YBs cost $28 and can be purchased with cash or check in the office or with a credit card on REV TRAK. Books are on sale from now until the reserve supply is gone. Student writers and photographers did outstanding work this year–you won’t want to miss it! Look for sneak previews in the days ahead.

 

 

PEER PE:  Any 8th grade students interested in applying for Peer PE need to get an application from the tables in the large gym or the counselor’s office.  You must fill out the application, get two teacher signatures, and return the application to Ms. Beer by May 17th at 3:00.

 

 

COACH WOODLEY WILL BE OPENING THE FOOTBALL STADIUM UP AT THE HIGH SCHOOL FOR OPEN FIELDS FOR THOSE INTERESTED IN PLAYING FOOTBALL NEXT FALL THIS SUNDAY, MAY 19TH. THE FIELD WILL BE OPEN 5PM TO 6:30PM ON THOSE SUNDAY NIGHTS. THIS IS OPEN TO ANY CURRENT 8TH AND 9TH GRADER PLANNING ON PLAYING FOOTBALL SO PLEASE COME AND WORK ON YOUR GAME.
