Mexikid is a graphic memoir telling the story of the author’s adventure-filled road trip as a young boy to Mexico to get his grandfather and move him to America with his family.

LAW DAY CONGRATULATIONS
Congratulations to Summit 6th grader Madhav Ganesh Kumar for being named a winner in the 2024 Polk County Bar Association Law Day Competition for grades 6-8! Madhav won for his poetry collection “Requiem for a Two Party System” where he addressed the importance of and need for the democratic process in America. Madhav will be recognized at a ceremony on May 1 at the Iowa Judicial Branch Building and his poem will be available on the PCBA website for the rest of the year.
BOOK CLUB
The final book club will be May 9 from 2:50 – 3:30.
CHESS CLUB
Interested in the game but don’t know how to play? The Summit Chess Club welcomes all sixth and seventh graders. Mr. O’Brien and Mr. Meyer will teach you and have you challenging your friends in no time. Our expert student leaders can give you strategies to dominate the board. We meet in Voyage room #226 on Tuesdays from 2:50 – 3:30 pm. NOTE: You must have a ride home after club. The school and sponsors will not provide transportation
GARDEN CLUB
Garden Club meets on Thursdays from 2:50 – 3:30 in Room 129 (Mission). Students must be able to be picked up at 3:30 or get home on foot.
HYPERSTREAM CLUB
Every Wednesday from 2:50 – 3:40. New students are welcome!
RUBIK’S CUBE CLUB
Meets every Monday until 3:30 in room 128 Mission. If you have your own cube, please bring it or we have some to share. You are welcome to come even if you can’t solve a cube. There will be experts there to help out. You will need to find your own ride home.
SUMMIT SELECT CHOIR
7th Grade Summit Select Choir will be meeting on Tuesdays from 2:55-3:30 pm through the end of April.
