Congratulations to Teams Purple, Gold, and Dragon as they have qualified for the Middle School Mock Trial State Tournament!  Team Firestorm had a strong showing as the defense in the run-off cases held last night, and just missed qualification.

The following 7th grade Summit students will continue their Mock Trial journey as they further craft and refine both the prosecution and defense in the criminal case State of Iowa v. Dana Bayliss, where the defendant has been charged with Murder in the First Degree.  They will be competing on December 1 and 2, 2021.

Attention all 6th and 7th graders: we have a new book club at Summit! It meets every Monday from 2:50 to 3:40.  All students at Summit are welcome to join. The Summit Book Club doesn’t just read and discuss the books, but it also has competitive games, read-alouds, scavenger hunts, and a great community! If you want to sign up, just write your name on the sheet at the entrance of the library. Note: Parents will have to pick their kids up after school, as the Summit Book Club doesn’t provide transportation.

Featured Book of the Week:

The Secret Life of Kitty Granger is about a girl in England in the 1960s who is recruited to be a spy for the British Intelligence Agency (MI6).  Kitty has some special skills in the area of observation, and they need someone young that they can use to gain intel about a potential government coup.  This was a great thriller, and I hope it will be the first in a series!  I’d like to read more about Kitty Granger’s adventures!
