SMS Announcements-Friday, Oct. 13th-A Day

Our behavior focus for next week will be appropriate peer interactions. We want to stress utilizing kind and respectful words during conversations.  Do not engage in the use of profanity, racial slurs and/or unkind words.  These incidents are never considered as jokes.  Make sure that you are aware of the words that you speak because there may be consequences associated with them.

Come join the MATHCOUNTS CLUB!!!

More than a quarter million students participate in MATHCOUNTS programs or use their resources each year. At Summit, students meet to solve problems and build problem solving skills. They will meet after school every-other week, on Mondays beginning October 4 in Ms. Lewis’s room #123 in Team Mission from 3:00 to 4:00. Students need to have a ride home at 4:00.

In January, students will begin meeting every week on Mondays after school to get ready for 4 levels of competition. This is open to any student who enjoys problem solving with others in a competitive environment. Our school competition will be in January, a local competition in February, state in March and then the National Competition.

The coaches are Mr. Steve Skinner and Ms. Linda Lewis. Anyone is welcome to join and there are links on the Activities and Clubs Moodle page under MATHCOUNTS.

Garden Club will meet Thursdays at 2:45 in Room 129 in Mission.  All students are welcome from both 6th and 7th grade!  Our meeting will end promptly at 3:30.  Students need to be able to walk home or be picked up; bus transportation is not available.  We will be out in the garden harvesting produce that we donate to the Johnston Partnership; we have donated over 700 pounds this gardening season already!

We have a Facebook page and we would love for you to follow along on our journey!  You can access it here: Summit Middle School Garden Club Facebook Page.

Swimming is starting next week.  Please take care to store your library books far away from your wet swimsuits and towels.  Wet books = MOLD!
