August is just around the corner— that means it’s almost time to return to school! Get a head start on planning for the upcoming school year and check out our compiled list of back to school events happening around the district and useful links. From the Back to School Health and Resource fair to various Meet the Teachers, we’ve ensured you are well prepared.

All secondary class schedules and teachers can be viewed Monday, August 4 on Infinite Campus. Elementary students can view this information on Monday, August 11. All bus routes will be available on August 11. Here’s to another great year at Johnston Community School District!

JCSD Back to School Health & Resource Clinic | August 7 at JMS

  • 3-7 PM | Physicals, dental & vision screenings and vaccination record look-up are available for families that are uninsured, underinsured, or face other barriers.
  • Get help with school registration, supplies, school lunch, child care and transportation.

Kindergarten Jump Start | August 25-27

  • August 11 | Initial teacher assigned
  • August 21, 4-6 pm | Meet the Teacher
  • August 25-26 | Orientation, first two days of school
  • August 27 | No School: teacher and rosters finalized

First Day of School

  • Grades DK-12 | August 25 — 3-Hour Early Out
  • Developmental Kindergarten (DK): August 25 for AM, Aug. 26 for PM
  • JELA:
    • 4-year-olds start September 2
    • 2-year-olds start September 4
    • 3-year-olds start Sept. 4 or 5
