DAILY ROTATION SCHEDULE
Teachers will update weekly assignments every Friday so students know what needs to be done the following week. In the weekly updates, teachers will communicate any due dates for student work.

ANNOUNCEMENTS:
YEARBOOKS: The 2021-22 Yearbooks are now gone! For this year’s 9th graders: If you did not purchase your 8th grade yearbook (2020-21), we have copies available for $10.
ATTENTION 8th GRADE STUDENTS INTERESTED IN A SCHOOL PERMIT
In order to obtain a School Permit for the 2022-23 school year, you must complete ALL of the steps listed below:
1–Be at least a 9th grader for the 2022-23 school year
2–Have had your Learners Permit for at least 6 months
3–Successfully completed Driver’s Education
4–Go to the following link https://www.johnstoncsd.org/school-news/school-drivers-permit-process/ and complete all 3 of the steps outlined for you on the website [Students will need to log in with their jdragonmail credentials in order to watch the video and complete the quiz.]
I) Watch the instructional video. [The video contains the information that was presented at permit meetings in the past and will now take the place of those meetings.]
II) Complete the online quiz with at least 9 questions answered correctly. One parent will need to watch the video and note completion on the quiz.
III) Go to the JMS main office and pick up your signed Department of Transportation (DOT) form during office hours and bring $20 for a parking tag (please have your license plate information at the time of purchase).
5–Schedule an appointment with the Department of Transportation to get your School Permit. You will need to take your Learners Permit and the completed DOT form to your appointment. STUDENTS WHO HAVE COMPLETED THIS PROCESS WILL BE ALLOWED TO DRIVE ON CAMPUS BEGINNING TUESDAY, MAY 31.

USAGE: When can I use my School Permit?

REPEAT ANNOUNCEMENTS:
ATTENTION CURRENT 9TH GRADERS – PARKING TAGS FOR JHS:
The JHS 2022-2023 Parking Tags are in and available for purchase and pick up.
Remember that you must have all of your fees paid from every year besides the 2022-2023 year before you are able to pick up your parking tag.
Due to the delay in the arrival of the parking tags we are not going to be able to sell tags at JMS this year.
There are NOT limited spaces but we are asking that you purchase your tag by using the link if you are able to drive at the start of the year so that buses are able to start setting their routes. You are also able to buy your parking tag on RevTrak.
DO NOT purchase a parking tag until you are able to drive as once you purchase a parking tag you will be removed from the bus list and unable to ride the bus.

The High School accounting office is open from 8-1 and 2-3 pm during the summer.
LOST & FOUND: Attention JMS families, please make sure your student has looked through the lost & found items in the Commons by the end of the day – this Friday, May 27. All unclaimed items left in our Lost & Found area on Tuesday, June 1 will be gathered and donated.
UKRAINE FUNDRAISER: Donate to the Ukraine Fundraiser to support displaced kids from Ukraine. There are 1 million displaced kids, most of them requiring financial assistance and aid. Please use the following link to make your donation: http://support.savethechildren.org/goto/dragon
COUNSELING OFFICE: Parents, students, and educators looking for a re-boot this summer, Please Pass the Love is offering ways to help support you this summer. Their team has created an entire catalog of summer programming with some things specifically designed for preserving and maintaining the mental health wellbeing of youth, educators, and families including:
· A Wellness Educator Retreat
· Therapeutic garden program
· Social skills and skills based groups
Excluding the wellness educator retreat, they are implementing a pay what you can model, so participants have the option of paying what they can if they are able to.

JHS CHEER: The Johnston Cheer Program is going to be spreading Dragon Pride and we need your help!
We haven’t had the chance to do this for over a year, and we are excited! Driveway paintings are a huge fundraiser for us and we are hoping to purchase new uniforms for all cheer squads.
We are taking orders until May 27th and will be painting through the months of May and June (Just in time for Grad Parties!)
D&D CLUB: Attention Dungeons and Dragons Club – The final 3 meetings of the year have a change in location. D&D Club will meet in Mr. Hewitt’s room (113). If you are new to the club or have been attending often, feel free to come and make some friends prior to the end of the year.
2022 JHS FOOTBALL: Current FRESHMEN (incoming sophomores) who are considering playing football next season should fill out the google form via the attached QR code (or on the link below).

2022 FRESHMAN FOOTBALL: If you are a current 8th grader, interested in playing freshman football, you need to fill out the following short survey. We are excited to start our summer training in June, and it’s important we get your information, if you are interested in signing up! Parents, please make sure your player fills this out ASAP. 9th grade students who wish to obtain a school driver’s permit can follow the following link: https://www.johnstoncsd.org/school-news/school-drivers-permit-process/
This link will guide them to a Google Site. Students will need to log in with their jdragonmail credentials in order to watch a video and complete a quiz. The video contains the information that was presented at permit meetings in the past and will now take the place of those meetings. One parent will need to watch the video and note that completion on the quiz. As usual, the only students eligible are 9th graders who have completed driver’s education and have had their learner’s permit for at least six months. After the quiz has been completed, students can pick up their signed Department of Transportation form in the JMS Front Office. Students will need a parking tag to park on school grounds during the school year. Parking tags are available for $20 when students pick up their DOT form. Please make sure you have your license plate number with you at the time of purchase.
