Keeping Our Schools Safe

Since 2007, the City of Johnston has partnered with the Johnston Community School District to provide a full-time school resource officer (SRO). The purpose of the SRO position is to prevent school policy violations, criminal activity, and school violence. Currently, the district has two School Resource Officers with school-day presence in our buildings. In addition to providing safety and security within the buildings, both SROs also work at home athletic events.

Meet our SROs

It provides students with information on drug and alcohol safety, computer safety and privacy, and teaches students how to say no in uncomfortable situations.
