ParentSquare
All Johnston Community School District students, parents and staff are automatically in ParentSquare, the district’s official communications platform. You don’t have to sign up!
ParentSquare is a unified communication platform that offers a whole host of tools that allows district, school administrators and teachers to more effectively communicate and engage with families and students. It is a central hub for all district, school, grade level, class, and group notifications about your student.
Since 2023, the Johnston Community School District has utilized ParentSquare to keep parents and guardians informed and encourage greater engagement and connection with the district. Additionally, secondary students grades 6-12 also have access to “StudentSquare” emails, texts and app updates, as well.

Logging In and Getting Started
To log in, go to http://parentsquare.com or open the ParentSquare app. For students and staff with Johnston emails, it works best to use “Sign in with Google” at the bottom, then choose your work or school email. For families, ParentSquare is fully integrated with Infinite Campus, Johnston’s Student Information System (SIS) through an automatic syncing process. For staff, the nightly sync comes from Human Resources’ Business Plus.
This means that ParentSquare is an OPT OUT system, meaning that every parent, student and staff member is in ParentSquare whether they signed up or not.Those new to the district will receive an email or text invitation from JCSD, inviting them to ParentSquare. The information for the upcoming school year becomes active July 1 each year.

Download the App
ParentSquare offers a mobile app, available on both the App Store and Google Play. While this app is not required to receive ParentSquare communications, the app offers multiple features to streamline communications from the district, school, class and team. With the app, you receive all your communications in one place.

I logged in…now what?
- Verify your Contact Information
- Confirm that your name, school, email, phone number and children are correct. If incorrect, staff members can change their primary information in Employee Online. Parents can change their primary information in Infinite Campus. You cannot change your contact information directly in ParentSquare because information is synced nightly with IC and EO. If you put in a request in ParentSquare to change your information, this will be sent as a request to your school secretary as a Contact Verification.
- Choose your Notification Preferences
- You can receive your school email, text and app notifications instantly, by digest (all messages at 6
pm), or you can turn them off. This will only be overwritten if a person sending the message sends it “Instantly,” or sends out an Alert.

- Changing your language preference in ParentSquare is easy! All you have to do is sign into ParentSquare, click on your name in the upper right, My Account, then Language Settings in the menu on the left (on the computer) or Preferences (on the app). Then choose your language preference.
